Throughout 2017, archaeologists have been at work in the palace square, outside and in the castle basement, too. Here at the end of October, 2017, work continues on the castle project, restoring the castle inside and out. New floors will be laid, central heating installed, and the façade of the castle will be restored. Last but not least, handicap access will become available, so wheelchair users will be able to come into the castle for the first time ever.

Outside, a new castle courtyard will be created when new buildings and restored parts of the existing castle line it on four sides. New exhibitions will be put in place in the royal (existing) wing as well as in the new, modern exhibition rooms that will be part of the northern wing.
