Big new play-ship coming to Nyborg

The Department of Business and Development has allotted 575,000 Danish kroner to establish a playground in the form of a big ship. It will be a ship that has its roots in Nyborg’s exciting history.
New book about M/F Broen (Motor Ferry “The Bridge”)

The Museums of Eastern Funen have received a donation of 150,000 Danish kroner from Funen Energy’s General Fund to prepare and publish a book describing the history of the Great Belt ferry, M/F Broen. The book will describe the ferry’s connection to the town of Nyborg and more generally ferry traffic’s great significance for Funen as a region and for Denmark as a nation.
Powerful canons will once again guard over the Great Belt

The Museums of Eastern Funen will move the two big cannons from the palace square at Nyborg Castle to the Star Redoubt near the beach, so it will once again be clear to passersby, what a high priority was once given to the surveillance of the Great Belt.

Bertel Haarder, Minister of Culture, will participate in the opening ceremony of the Danehof in Nyborg in 2016. The occasion to be celebrated is an anniversary: it was 100 years ago that the ambition to turn Nyborg Castle into a national heritage site was launched.
